Chris began his career as a Production Sound Engineer with Apex Acoustics Sound Services Ltd. one of Scotland's leading sound hire, sales and distribution companies, in his home town of Dundee.
During his six years with Apex Chris designed, installed and operated sound systems for hundreds of theatrical productions and corporate events. He was also a committed member of their sales and installation division, providing sound systems, and infrastructure to entertainment venues and houses of worship across Scotland.
In 2007 Chris chose to further his knowledge academically and enrolled at Abertay University. Entering directly into the third year of the course Chris graduated only a year later with a BA in Creative Sound Production.
Chris continued to work as a freelance sound designer and operator throughout his studies. It was during this time he developed a relationship with Perth Theatre, taking up the roll of Head of Sound even before graduating.
As Head of Sound at Perth Theatre Chris facilitated the audio requirements of visiting productions as well as designing and operating sound for the various in-house productions including: Pinocchio, A Streetcar Named Desire, The Demon Barber,
Tam O' Shanter and Of Mice and Men.
Chris describes those two years in Perth as the most theatrically formative and enjoyable years of these early stages in his career.
Upon taking up the Deputy Head of Sound position at London's prestigious Open Air Theatre, Chris moved to the city he now calls home in the spring of 2009.
Chris enjoyed two wonderful summers at "The Park" and in the time between production seasons built a relationship with the National Theatre of Scotland.
This relationship spawned the beginning of years of International touring after the 2010 season at the Open Air Theatre.
It was whilst in New York on tour that Chris was first approached about an opportunity to be part of the team opening the new musical production of 'Charlie and The Chocolate Factory' at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane, directed by Sam Mendes.
It was only 18 months later, that Chris took up his first Associate Sound Designer role, working alongside Sound Designer Paul Arditti for the West End production of 'Skylight' at Wyndham's Theatre, directed by Stephen Daldry in 2014.
